I hope all is well, and that the recent barrage of undergrads found you prepared :)
The first meeting of the PDLC this year will take place at noon on September 7th, at Barker 434. We will dedicate this first meeting to discuss our plans for the year, and to hear from you what you'd like to see in future PDLC. As usual, there will be (free) lunch, and the great company of your fellow post-docs. Please take a second to RSVP on the right sidebar and if you haven't done so already, please also take the survey.
This year, we would also want to try and organize additional workgroups to target special interests - examples of possible groups are Work/Life Balance, Grant/Paper Writing, (Job) Talk Preparation & Visa Issues - to name just a few. All of these would require volunteers to help and run them (wink wink) - please try to think if you'd like to participate!
Finally - we would like to make special effort in this first meeting to reach all MCB post-docs (and any other life sciences post-docs who may be interested). While we are sending this message to our current mailing list, there are definitely some post-docs that get under our radar - please spread the word around and forward this e-mail to all post-docs in your lab/floor and to anyone you think might be interested. On a related matter: we would like to start using a LinkedIn group to make communication between post-docs more efficient. We've created a group called "Berkeley MCB Postdocs". If you don't have a LinkedIn account, setting one up won't take more than a few minutes. Please join the group and help make it a useful forum. We have opted to make the group 'private', so your details and any communication will be protected; for that reason you may have to be 'approved' by a moderator.
Thanks, and we hope to see you all soon!
