Thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm with postdoc lunch club.
For those who didn't get a chance to join us yet, we meet at 12:00pm on the first Friday of the month in 434 Barker Hall.
Starting next month (May 6), we'd like to give the opportunity for 2 postdocs to speak every lunch (30 minutes each):
- one progress report
- one chalk talk to receive feedback on early stage project ideas or practice faculty search chalk talks. The "incubator series" would be the opportunity for people who are on the job market, will go on the job market in the next years or are about to submit a K99 etc. to describe their specific aims.
If you are interested in presenting during the upcoming postdoc lunchclubs (May 6, Jun 3, July 1, August 5, September 2 etc.), please let us know the format (progress report vs chalk talk) and the month you're willing to talk.
Some of you already volunteered during the first postdoc lunch in february. For those who signed up, could you please confirm that you are still interested in presenting and the format you'd like to follow (Ling in May, Juliet in June, Tulsiram in July, Rosie in August, Pawel in November and Lara in December).
As we mentioned at the last lunch, Christina has started a website: http://mcbpostdoc.weebly.com/. Events, speaker series, meetings, and other information for mcb postdocs will be posted there. There is also a directory of postdocs and their expertise and career interests and you're welcome to fill out the form with the informations you'd like to share.
A mailing list had also been created: email@example.com. You can find on the website the instructions on how to sign up.
The goal of the postdoc lunch club is to provide an opportunity for postdoc to get to know each other both scientifically and personally and to provide a venue for all the postdoc to discuss job and family-related issues, exchange information, practice job talks, etc. So feel free to send us your ideas, comments and concerns, so we can try to meet your expectations! Thanks again and we are now waiting for volunteers to speak for the upcoming postdoc lunch clubs!Fred & Virginie
The next PDLC will be held on November 6th in Barker 434.
